This public beach front area is a staple of Gulf Shores, and is home to some of the community most exciting events. Festivals, sporting events, and more occur here annually, and it’s not hard to guess why.
Its location is key, as it offers a wide variety of different beachfront recreation. It also houses gourmet restaurants and fabulous shopping opportunities for those who visit.
To preserve its fantastic character while revitalizing it and making it even safer for pedestrian safety, the City of Gulf Shores is implementing a revitalization plan. The Revitalization plan is designed to transform the area in order to provide even more opportunities to the public for fun, relaxation, and oceanfront enjoyment.

Phase II is set to add even more wonderful features to this beloved section of Gulf Shores. In addition to large boardwalks and improved seating and shade structures, Phase II will add:
Bench on a board walk at sunset.As construction continues with the Gulf Place, the City is working hard to coordinate with local festivals and events to ensure their continued success. While there are periodic closures of public beach areas, there is still regular beach access on West 2nd Street.
In addition to improved pedestrian access and safety, the project aims to create more convenient access between Gulf Place and Downtown. It will also create more opportunities for beachfront activity and recreation in Gulf Shores.
